The greatest source of noise in a building’s drainage system occurs where the vertical drainage stack turns beneath the floor into a horizontal drain. This transition is made through a stack base bend, where flowing wastewater generates significant noise. These locations therefore require carefully designed sound insulation.
Traditionally, the stack base bend is cast in concrete on-site, requiring the construction of a casting mould, the concrete pouring itself, and finally the removal of the mould.
Alternatively, the concrete stack base bend can be delivered to site as a prefabricated element. Both methods are time-consuming, as concrete is a heavy sound-insulating material.
The Meluton Stack Base Bend is the lightest and most efficient sound-insulating solution. Supplied pre-cut and ready for installation, it can be installed by a single person in just a few minutes.
These installation instructions have been prepared for use with the Geberit Silent Pro drainage system but are also suitable for installation in all European standard-size drainage systems.
